i'm currently hooked on the mars volta (again.) i recently bought one of their older albums, Frances the Mute, when we were in melbourne. we went into the Dirt Cheap CDs store (the same store where i found Nosferatu and the roman polanski films), and that band was the first thing that popped in my head. i've been looking for their album (for such a great band, their songs do not deserve to be merely downloaded) for about 3 years now ever since i first heard Televators. they are nowhere to be found in the philippines.

i just love their music. their songs are untypical, cryptic and the guitars are just great. it's an experience, really, listening to their songs. plus, their songs are all tied up in the album by a story, making it more interesting. here's a glimpse of their lyrics from Cassandra Geminni:
Brick by brick, the night eclipsed
Pricked by cuticle thorns
Dried the sleep on nursery slits
Unto this life I'm born

Heaven's just a scab away
I'd like to see you after just one taste

Sink your teeth into the flesh of midnight
Night forever more
Let them see it has begun
The others I've become
i think it was destiny. when i first asked the guy manning the store if they had any of their albums, he said no. but after a few minutes, he approached me and said that he saw one on the shelves and handed it to me.

it was the only copy left.
