i realize that i haven't been blogging for a while. been busy with "stuff." therefore, a pathetic rundown of what i have been upto, NOT in chronological order:

of course i saw The Simpsons Movie! who hasn't?

----------

apparently malas ako sa live games. ateneo lost in the 2 games i watched live. haha. in the game versus UST:

i became a fan of kirk long.

sat behind a cute kid who apparently finds cheering.. noisy.

witnessed alumni shouting obscenities and what not to the commissioner -- without taking into consideration that they were setting a very bad example to the cute kid sitting near us.

----------

got my package from DA. yes, i do realize that i could have printed my artwork here in the philippines, but hey, i am paying to have "deviantart" on the back.

and oh yeah, i am fucking infatuated. screw this strange fascination. i can't have his stupid face and his voice in my head anymore.

di na talaga ako natuto. tancha ko lang, wala namang patutunguhan ito.

i apparently have a thing for ****** guys.
have. to. stay. away. but i can't.

before i forget, here's an article by my former high school teacher, mr. allan rono.

somebody asked me why i'm so into UAAP basketball and why i went to the Gesu eventhough we lost... i could've answered him with that article.

after overtime, the score was 76-74. the ateneo blue eagles lost the championship to the UST growling tigers.

despite all the [emotional] stress yesterday, i don't feel as bad as i expected. after the game, we went straight to the church of the gesu-- like we always do :) and somehow, being with the ateneo community and listening to fr. ben makes it all better. somehow, the atmosphere was transformed from disappointment to thanksgiving. by the time the mass ended, it was as if the fact of the loss was put aside, and everyone was congratulating the players for a wonderful job this season and wishing them luck for the next.

the team and coach norman black apoligized for the loss. but honestly, i think that for us true blue fans, it doesn't matter, because we know how hard they've worked throughout the season and how much everyone's performance has improved. i hate it when i hear others putting the blame on the players, and not just this season. in this case, some are blaming JC intal, who missed crucial layups in the last minutes of the game, and ford arao, for his performance (or lack thereof). i think it's really sad that some people do not realize how much effort these people have given throughout the season. nobody is perfect. players cannot be at their best all the time. to all blamers: can you do better then them? probably not.

i understand sir rono when he said that it's just a game; sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. it all boils down on how you played the game. yes, we were all sad and disappointed, but this year's team showed heart we haven't seen after the championship in 2002. they all did their very best, especially captains JC intal (intal inside), doug kramer (who let the doug out?) and macky escalona (i *heart* macky). it's also great to see other players step up, like chris tiu (it's tiu-sday) and zion laterre (laterre-minator). and with this, i really can't be bitter about the loss. it was a good fight. and more than that, this team, this band of brothers, made me fall in love with UAAP basketball all over again. ONE BIG FIGHT!

sabi ni JC, "keep the faith."
i just love this pic. sino ang mukhang fan? hehehe. and i quote coach, "JC, in my heart, you're the MVP." naks. more pics and videos in my multiply account.

taking a break

today joan and i "cut" work and went to araneta to buy tickets for the game this sunday. (yes, hanggang sa trabaho nagcu-cut pa rin kami.) in our yuppie attire, we rode a cab and waited in line to get our upper box B tickets. and yes, i was reading and highlighting a handout while in the cab and in line. parang dati...

... spent the night outside the athletics office to get tickets for the championship game during our first year in college
... woke up extra early to line up at araneta, only to find out that other people woke up much earlier than we did
... lined up at the Blue Eagle Gym with other dormers and yayas to get 2 tickets each

and i realized, once the UAAP bug bites, you never recover. (after the basketball season, i'll probably not post as much on sports -- until the football season starts in november. hehehe.)

and today UST Growling Tigers beat the UE Red Warriors. i must say that i am, like most people, disappointed, because i expected UE to win. but at the same time, i feel a little worried(?) because in jeff's words, "UST has the momentum". still, the Ateneo Blue Eagles have a great lineup this year, and for sure, everyone will get their money's worth on sunday.

ONE BIG FIGHT!

mga putang inang referee. in your face! kahit bulok ang calls ninyo, panalo pa rin kami! and fine, magaling na kung magaling si ken bono, pero kung wala na siya, wala na rin ang adamson. mvp? jc intal pa rin ako! and go coach norman black for using profane language. (i can't believe i actually said that.)

videos are in my multiply site.

getting better all the time

i have to admit it's getting better...

this has been an interesting week. i've survived the fourth week of my employment, and i have to admit that it's getting better.

i finally got out of the office!!! last wednesday afternoon, jeff and i went to the SAP event in Crowne Plaza. although we didn't do much, it was just great to be out of the office and into "the field." and yes, i again realized that i am so not an office person.

during the following days, we had our New Employee Orientation, which is basically the equivalent of the Freshmen Orientation Seminar, wherein they brainwash you into believing that you did make the right decision in joining the organization. i'm not a fan of these kinds of brainwash, but apparently, they work. i really felt a lot better going into that orientation. maybe, just maybe, this is the right path for me. but then again, i can never tell. so i might as well go along with it.

i know it's mababaw, but my favorite part of the whole thing was the activity where we had to draw to represent what makes an IBMer succeed. although i did a really crappy drawing, our team's drawing won and we got 80 points! the great thing about it was nobody expected me to draw. nobody there knows how much i like art and that i paint. not to be mayabang or whatever, but for some reason, just because i got 100 in visual arts in high school, i doodle a lot and i like art, people usually point at me for drawings and shit. like hello, that was high school and a class with Barayuga. it doesn't really mean anything. it sucks, because people expect you to make something good. and even if it's not good, they still say it is. i'm no artist. frustrated artist is more like it. i just do what i like to do. it was great just stepping up, doing something that i love to do, and getting points for it-- without any expectations.

----------

had dinner with my katips sisters last friday. i haven't realized how much i missed US until we were all together. despite all the pressures of work, school and other problems, we had a great time, even if it was only for a short while.

----------

watched Sukob yesterday with joan, rahel and shean. in fairness, the movie was actually good, for a pinoy film. nothing great, but direk Chito Rono did a good job. coming from a semester of horror film with goth teacher Andrew Ty, the movie was effective. the movie had everything that a horror film should have: the female victim and monster, the creepy set and music, and of course, the humor. Claudine Barretto, as always, delivered well. Kris Aquino was, well, Kris Aquino. apparently, she's going for the Queen of Horror. A nice addition to the cast was Maja Salvador. I watch Sa Piling Mo (yes, i actually like that show. according to my mom, ang class ko. haha.), and she's a really good actress (despite being Philip Salvador's niece). she's really pretty and she actually has the talent.

despite the technical problems in the SM Bicutan cinema, watching the film was fun. the story was unique. it's based on a Filipino superstition, but he managed to turn it into something new, twisted and funny. the scare factor is definitely there, but once you get the hang of it, it somehow becomes comedic. so will i watch it again? sure. kung gusto mong suportahan ang pelikulang pilipino (dahil hindi ka nakapanood ng mga pelikula sa Cinemalaya), ito na ang pagkakataon.

ateneo defeated UE today, 82-75. i take back what i said before. the team has a good chance of going to the finals (and possibly winning). one big fight!

watched the game yesterday with rahel, shean, eboy and coloy. in about 13 hours, eboy will be boarding a plane to LA.

(it seems that a lot of people are leaving nowadays.)

anyway, the game was great-- and not just because we won. baskets and tension DO make a great game. and now the players.. first of all, eric salamat is the real thing. jc intal was good, although he seems to be lacking leadership skills. he's the captain, but you don't really see it (in my opinion). chris tiu seems to be hogging the ball, and didn't even make a lot of points. but overall, i think the team has improved a lot. there's better coordination, and i like the way coach norman black utilizes the guards. may pag-asa pa pala ang ateneo.

after the game, we had dinner at Aristocrat. yes, antatanda na namin. may mga trabaho na at kumakain sa isang "restawran" na pangmatanda. hehe. after eating, we walked (and took pictures!) for a bit before settling down at Gloria Jean's.

2 interesting sights for the day: a homeless couple making out behind a kariton, and a homosexual parading in a swimsuit.

roomies reunited!

it's jov's birthday today!

met up with my roomies today. it's been so long since we've all been together. it's unnecessary to tell all details here, but the point is: i really miss dorm life :(

----------

also got reunited today with UAAP basketball. today's the opening of the UAAP season, and the eagles won against the bulldogs (or NU tigers, according to mar :p). i guess it's really hard to get it out of my system.. watching basketball games, that is. UAAP basketball, specifically the blue eagles, have been part of my life since i started college, and my friends and i have been supporting them since then (win or lose, it's the school we choose!). but then again..

i think our team sucks this season. we won, but it was a tight game. and i'm sorry, but it was ONLY against NU. if it's difficult now, how will they fare against tougher teams? also, there are still some players who haven't improved (calling ford arao, doug kramer and macky escalona) despite their experience.

on the other hand, there were also some pleasant surprises. jai reyes -- this guy really lived up to his hype (well at least i think so). he's even better than macky escalona and chris tiu. eric salamat -- this was the first time i've seen him, and even if he only played for a few minutes, i could already see that he's really good. lastly, yuri escueta -- yes, i actually included him here (hehe). although i'm not a fan of his new hair-do (or the lack of it, for that matter), but i'm glad to see that he's improved, although his performance was still not that great. kuya olsen would be proud.

sidenote: what happened to emman nazareno and jobe nkemakolam (did i spell it right?)?

oh, and the brass band sucks. their rendition of the Song for Mary was sooo slow, people actually sang faster and louder. it was funny, actually.

til the next game.
