getting better all the time

i have to admit it's getting better...
this has been an interesting week. i've survived the fourth week of my employment, and i have to admit that it's getting better.
i finally got out of the office!!! last wednesday afternoon, jeff and i went to the SAP event in Crowne Plaza. although we didn't do much, it was just great to be out of the office and into "the field." and yes, i again realized that i am so not an office person.
during the following days, we had our New Employee Orientation, which is basically the equivalent of the Freshmen Orientation Seminar, wherein they brainwash you into believing that you did make the right decision in joining the organization. i'm not a fan of these kinds of brainwash, but apparently, they work. i really felt a lot better going into that orientation. maybe, just maybe, this is the right path for me. but then again, i can never tell. so i might as well go along with it.
i know it's mababaw, but my favorite part of the whole thing was the activity where we had to draw to represent what makes an IBMer succeed. although i did a really crappy drawing, our team's drawing won and we got 80 points! the great thing about it was nobody expected me to draw. nobody there knows how much i like art and that i paint. not to be mayabang or whatever, but for some reason, just because i got 100 in visual arts in high school, i doodle a lot and i like art, people usually point at me for drawings and shit. like hello, that was high school and a class with Barayuga. it doesn't really mean anything. it sucks, because people expect you to make something good. and even if it's not good, they still say it is. i'm no artist. frustrated artist is more like it. i just do what i like to do. it was great just stepping up, doing something that i love to do, and getting points for it-- without any expectations.

had dinner with my katips sisters last friday. i haven't realized how much i missed US until we were all together. despite all the pressures of work, school and other problems, we had a great time, even if it was only for a short while.

watched Sukob yesterday with joan, rahel and shean. in fairness, the movie was actually good, for a pinoy film. nothing great, but direk Chito Rono did a good job. coming from a semester of horror film with goth teacher Andrew Ty, the movie was effective. the movie had everything that a horror film should have: the female victim and monster, the creepy set and music, and of course, the humor. Claudine Barretto, as always, delivered well. Kris Aquino was, well, Kris Aquino. apparently, she's going for the Queen of Horror. A nice addition to the cast was Maja Salvador. I watch Sa Piling Mo (yes, i actually like that show. according to my mom, ang class ko. haha.), and she's a really good actress (despite being Philip Salvador's niece). she's really pretty and she actually has the talent.
despite the technical problems in the SM Bicutan cinema, watching the film was fun. the story was unique. it's based on a Filipino superstition, but he managed to turn it into something new, twisted and funny. the scare factor is definitely there, but once you get the hang of it, it somehow becomes comedic. so will i watch it again? sure. kung gusto mong suportahan ang pelikulang pilipino (dahil hindi ka nakapanood ng mga pelikula sa Cinemalaya), ito na ang pagkakataon.

ateneo defeated UE today, 82-75. i take back what i said before. the team has a good chance of going to the finals (and possibly winning). one big fight!
