watched Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest today with my dad and brother. Of course, Johnny Depp was great, as usual. I can't imagine another actor playing the role of Captain Jack Sparrow. Orlando Bloom was well, Orlando Bloom. (sorry, i really don't like him, so i'll just avoid commenting on him. hehe.) Keira Knightley was also good, but for some reason, i did not like her character this time (well, blame the scriptwriters i guess). overall, the cast was great and very believable.

i liked:
  • the kraken. i first encountered this creature when i played games on the playstation and computer. i thought this was one of the coolest things i ever saw on film.
  • the swordfight. swordfights are seldom original: if you've seen one swordfight, you've probably seen most. but again, for some reason, i just love them. i think it's the balancing thing they do. hehe.
  • familiar "pirate names." The Flying Dutchman (to those who watch Spongebob Squarepants), "Barnacle" Bill the Sailor (to those who watch Popeye), and Davy Jones.
  • the costumes, prosthetics and makeup. i was practically cringing everytime i see Davy Jones and his crew.
  • the plot. twisty-turny unpredictable. i love it.
  • Johnny Depp!
some ?s:
  • the speech. i know it's supposed to be that way, but british-pirate talk is so difficult to decipher.
  • Orlando Bloom. (i know this is the second movie already, but hey, i am really biased. hehe.)
And yet, i was bored in some parts of the movie. The movie was just too long. I don't want to admit it, but i really expected more. I just wish the third one would be better. Anyway, i still like the movie. won't spend to see it again though. but then again, it is a Johnny Depp film. haha.

----------

down with the second week of work. so many things happening this week. so many emotions.

i never knew moving on (in general) would be so difficult.
