Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even the dull and the ignorant;
they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others,
you may become vain and bitter;
for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs;
for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself.
Especially,
do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.

You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God,
whatever you conceive Him to be,
and whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

[warning: mushy and emo post]

it's funny. i never would have thought that we would reach this far (as if napakalayo na nang narating namin). well sure, we were shooting for a minimun 5 years at the beginning of our relationship-- that was very sweet and hopeful of us. but after some time, like in all relationships, there was a point wherein it seemed that 1 year isn't even possible.

i know i'm not the best girlfriend in the whole world. i know that i can be pretty selfish, immature and irrational sometimes (okay.. most of the time). but despite all of these, he's still here. with me. as in he actually chose to still be with me. i still can't believe it sometimes.

sometimes it seems that it isn't even real. it's not that i don't believe he loves me-- it's just my imagination, insecurities and paranoia going wild. i guess i'm just scared of losing him. if i were to (knock-on-wood) lose him, i wouldn't want it to be because of my personality whatsoever-- i'd rather we (knock-on-wood) break up because of.. something else. haha.

i remember someone saying that it would take one hell of a guy to change me. or actually make me even want it.

and after everything that we have gone through the past 3 months, i just want to say THANK YOU. and i hope the time comes when we can shoot again for 5 years.

the mars volta

Filed under:
i'm currently hooked on the mars volta (again.) i recently bought one of their older albums, Frances the Mute, when we were in melbourne. we went into the Dirt Cheap CDs store (the same store where i found Nosferatu and the roman polanski films), and that band was the first thing that popped in my head. i've been looking for their album (for such a great band, their songs do not deserve to be merely downloaded) for about 3 years now ever since i first heard Televators. they are nowhere to be found in the philippines.

i just love their music. their songs are untypical, cryptic and the guitars are just great. it's an experience, really, listening to their songs. plus, their songs are all tied up in the album by a story, making it more interesting. here's a glimpse of their lyrics from Cassandra Geminni:
Brick by brick, the night eclipsed
Pricked by cuticle thorns
Dried the sleep on nursery slits
Unto this life I'm born

Heaven's just a scab away
I'd like to see you after just one taste

Sink your teeth into the flesh of midnight
Night forever more
Let them see it has begun
The others I've become
i think it was destiny. when i first asked the guy manning the store if they had any of their albums, he said no. but after a few minutes, he approached me and said that he saw one on the shelves and handed it to me.

it was the only copy left.

apparently, i am in a posting frenzy. haha.

saw this while browsing for jobs (yes, i was looking and applying for jobs while at work):
One-Year Immersion Filmmaking Program
Designed to provide our students a unique educational experience tailored specifically to his or her individual ambitions, IAFT's One-Year Immersion Program is an opportunity for aspiring film professionals from all levels of experience and education to gain the firsthand knowledge required for any serious career in the entertainment industry. In addition to generalized introductions to the craft of filmmaking, IAFT also offers specialized courses such as Acting for Film, 3-D Animation, and Digital Film Editing among many others.
if there's one thing i'm passionate about and know that i can actually be good at, it's in films. i LOVE films and filmmaking. too bad i never had the proper background. let's face it, the only experience i had that was close enough to actual filmmaking was doing video projects for school (no thanks to ma'am chi-chi. haha). even so, i loved every second of it. i could take this course, but then again, where the hell would i get the money? the tuition's in fucking USD.
