the inevitable

as with tala, here's my own inevitable comparison of old work and new work. nyahaha.
as most most of you know, i left the world of IT sales and entered the realm of design. i'm still handling accounts though, because even if i really like to be in creatives and production, my experience and skills are mostly in management and dealing with clients. but that's ok, since i can always learn from the people at work. :)
probably the biggest downside here is the building (yes, i do take accommodations seriously). to describe the building where i now work in one word: bulok. we are talking about pests, lack of lighting and ugly carpet. ewwwww. i miss the clean, pest-free, bright lights and the ever reliable johnson controls personnel of IBM. and oh yes, the bidet in the toilets.
as expected, my salary has significantly decreased. here comes the difficult part: minimizing my expenses.
people have not really been a problem for me, here or in IBM. i love meeting new people and learning from them.
a huge upside: MUSIC. we play music here of every genre all day, everyday, any damn day.
i don't have a laptop, but i do have my own workstation and PC.
food in the ortigas area is a lot cheaper than in eastwood. thank god. surprisingly, it's quite easy and cheaper to commute from here. yay!
but some things don't change: i still go to work ridiculously early and constantly crave for caffeine.
at this point (5 days of work), i can honestly say that i have no regrets about my career move. when i was in my old job, i dreaded each day that came, was scared of going to work, procrastinated a lot, hated meetings, and couldn't wait to go home.
now it's exactly the opposite. as i've said before, money isn't everything. sure, it can buy me a macbook, a drawing tablet, an mp3 player, camera lens and branded things. but i realized that what i need in this stage of my life is not money: i need direction. material things can always wait. heck, i'll be working for the next 40 years of my life, and i sure do not want have any "what if's."
