it was a peaceful and uneventful sunday evening until..

yep, that's actually fire a-blazing, as seen from my bedroom window.

apparently, the house diagonal to ours caught fire. one minute i was tinkering with my laptop and texting mary; the next minute we were packing up our clothes and valuables (which is funny, because i packed more techie stuff-- my cameras, laptops, cellphones and chargers-- than clothes). we put all our stuff into the cars and parked the cars away from the house. and we all went outside.. like the rest of the village.

and yeah, it's good that someone called the fire department at once. i think there were four trucks who went to the scene-- and yes, one was from binondo one was from muntinlupa.

according to my dad, someone was charging his/her cellphone and then poof! fire. we were very lucky that the wind was blowing the other direction. if not, we would probably be homeless right now, i wouldn't be blogging, and i would probably regret not getting more clothes. but anyway, the fire was put out quickly and nobody was hurt.
the thing is, i find the whole thing.. amusing. it's surreal. everything went by so fast, there were so many people, firetrucks, etcetera. and now i'm blogging about it. weird.

sometimes i remember stuff.
like my conversation with benjo on priorities. tsk tsk.

Nosferatu: Phantom der Nacht
basically, this film is based on bram stoker's classic novel Dracula. Nosferatu mostly sticks to the original story, except for the latter part. some may think that all dracula movies are the same, but in this case, you will have a tough time understanding the story if you haven't read the novel-- which is good for me since i finally read it last year.i have nothing but praise for this film. made in 1979, it's a revolutionary film. it's not just a retelling of an old tale-- you can actually see and feel germany's history. it's difficult not to notice the parallelisms of the vampire to nazism. i feel like i could and should elaborate more on this, but in order to do so, i will have to take a refresher on german history.
the film goes straight to the point: it's goal is to scare you, and it does so flawlessly. all elements of a horror film tie up to create this classic: the score, acting, lighting, script, set.. everything! it's so effective your heart pounds throughout the film and after.. just like what the novel does.
the cinematography is superb. what i like about old films is that you can really see the talent and skill of the director: how such a great movie was made without special effects, animation and all other technological luxuries we use to enhance films nowadays. it's raw talent.
werner herzog and klaus kinski are geniuses. they've worked together on a lot of films; i actually believe that they are soulmates.
to say that my AUD10 is worth it is an understatement.
i've been trying to blog for the past weeks, but it seems that i always find myself tired. i hate not blogging when i want to, but these days, it's not just the lack of energy that's hindering me from writing down thoughts. moments and feelings have passed, so forgive me if this post seems somewhat forced and detached. you can read below my pathetic attempt to recall whatever.
THE GOOD
australia
..was great. lots of complications and annoyances during the duration of the trip, but it was worth it.
v-day
heh. when did i ever celebrate this day? but it was nice to be with aeo again, even if it was only for a short time.
THE BAD
UAAP football
ateneo finished 4th. good effort from the team, but it was just too late. and i hate not being able to watch games..
photography
..and take pictures. it's so frustrating, because now that i actually have a decent camera, it turns out that i don't have the time to actually use it. so much for sports photography this football season. i'm so disappointed.
THE UGLY
work
sucks. 'nuf said.
just killing time. gonna post something more decent this weekend. i hope.

i'm supposed to be packing as of this moment. then again, i'm here typing away. hahahaha. this is what i do best -- procrastinating.
i'm a procrastinator by nature. it comes so easily to me. i can go on for days not doing the-thing-that-i-should-be-doing.
but i digress.
i'm supposed to be packing because tomorrow, i have a 7:40pm flight to australia. yes, as in the land of steve irwin (god bless his animal-loving-crocodile-hunting soul) and a bunch of tennis players. i'm going to stay in that continent for about 8 days. the company's sending us out for a Kickstart, which is actually only until the 7th (flight's the next day), but i'm extending upto the 11th (as if i have the money).
i thought i would be excited to travel, but surprisingly, i'm not. it's such a hassle (which basically describes this whole week). and i hate hassle. anyhow, maybe i'll be excited once i get there.
i haven't been in the mood to do just about anything and everything recently. oh well. wish me luck.
